Welcome Message From Chief Drew R. Whitman

Welcome to the Panama City Beach Police Department's website. I hope you enjoy browsing our site. The City of Panama City Beach was established in July of 1970, when the City of West Panama City Beach, Long Beach Resort and the Town of Edgewater Gulf Beach merged with the City of Panama City Beach.  The Panama City Beach Police Department serves approximately 14,000 full time residents.  During the peak times in spring and summer, our population can swell in excess of 125,000 daily. Spring Break brings about 500,000 students in a six week period during March and April. The Department has the opportunity to police approximately 7 million visitors each year. We are located on the northern part of the Gulf of Mexico, between Tallahassee and Pensacola. Our Department currently consists of 70 full-time personnel and another 43 Auxiliary/Reserve personnel. We are in operation 24 hours a day to serve the public and we operate our own communications center.  We are a pro-active police agency and our main philosophy is "treat people better than you would expect to be treated." We also operate a Beach and Surf program where three civilians work on the sandy portion of the Beach informing our community and visitors of the water conditions 365 days a year.  Please do not hesitate to contact us regarding any questions you may have or any assistance that you may require from our law enforcement agency.
