Investigative Division


Captain Robert (Robby) Clarkson, a 25 year Law Enforcement
veteran, began his career with the Panama City Beach Police
Department in June of 1997 as a Patrol Officer in the Uniform
Patrol Division. In October of 1997, he was transferred to the
Criminal Investigative Division, assigned to the Special
Investigative Unit, where his primary duties were narcotic and
vice related investigations. During this time period he was
appointed as a Task Force Officer with the Drug Enforcement
Administration, Panama City Resident Office. While serving in
the Criminal Investigative Division, Captain Clarkson worked his
way through the ranks serving as a Corporal and in January of
2002, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In November of
2004, Captain Clarkson was reassigned as a felony investigator
within the Criminal Investigative Division. In August of 2010,
Captain Clarkson was assigned as the Criminal Investigative
Division Assistant Division Commander and in October of 2010 he
was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. On May 3, 2012 he was
promoted to the rank of Captain assigned as the Criminal
Investigative Division Commander.
Captain Clarkson is experienced in many areas of law enforcement
to include Computer Voice Stress Analysis, Hostage Negotiations,
Special Weapons and Tactics and is a certified instructor in
Flash Bangs, Chemical Agents, Chemical Munitions and Less than
Lethal Munitions. Captain Clarkson has received specialized
training in Child Fatality/Abuse/Exportation and Internet Crimes
against children. Captain Clarkson attended the Drug
Enforcement Administration Basic and Advanced Narcotics
Investigations and Clandestine Laboratory Investigation/Safety
Certification Program. He also attended the Federal Law
Enforcement Training Center, Drug Task Force Supervisors
Commander School.
