Rev. John Woodrow
The Chaplain of a police department provides spiritual support to
all officers and their families regardless of faith or denomination.
The Chaplain is an ordained minister in his or her denomination and
is trained in crisis management. The Police Chaplain also responds
to calls when the on-scene officer feels the counseling skills would
be helpful in an operational situation.
Chaplain John Woodrow is an immigrant from Nova Scotia, Canada who
joined the Department in the summer of 2012. After retiring from a
twenty year career in the Canadian Army, he attended St. Francis
Xavier achieving degrees in psychology and religious studies. For
post graduate training, Chaplain Woodrow attended Harvard Divinity
School earning an MDiv. with a concentration in Pastoral
Counseling. Having served as a Police Chaplain in Geneva, AL. and
Clayton, AL., he moved to the Panama City Beach area in 2012.
Chaplain Woodrow is also qualified as a Radiation Safety Specialist
and a Medical Radiograher.
