Lieutenant Danny McDonald began his career with the Panama City Beach Police Department in June of 1996 as a patrol officer in the uniformed Patrol Division, after graduating from Troy State University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree. In 1997, he spent about 7 months working as a special investigator within the narcotic’s unit; where his primary duties were narcotic and vice related investigations. Over the years, he became a crash reconstructionist and has testified in court as a crash expert on numerous occasions in Bay and Washington Counties. While back on uniformed patrol, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2000, Sergeant in 2002, and Lieutenant in 2012. In 2014,
Lieutenant McDonald was transferred to the Administrative Division and assigned to Special Operations. He is one of the team leaders of the Department’s Marine Division and recently attended the Department of Homeland Security “Marine Law Enforcement Training Program”, in Glynco, Georgia. Lieutenant McDonald has received specialized training in the following areas: crash investigation, marine law enforcement, special weapons and tactics, and was a defensive tactics instructor for many years.
